A standard Background check would have nabbed predator teacher.
"Jorge Estrada Landeros, 43, an Anderson Elementary School first-grade teacher, was recruited in November 2002 at a job fair in Monterrey, Mexico, through the state’s Region IV Education Service Center. He came to the United States on an H1B visa, according to CISD officials, and was hired by the district in August 2003 to work as a bilingual teacher at Grangerland Intermediate.
After his arrest, Landeros was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a fifteen thousand dollar bond and paid the bail and left the next day. A investigation done within the CISD Police Department, which to date has included interviews of 3 six-year-old girls who claimed Landeros touched them indecently while at the school, is still ongoing and will involve more interviews of students and faculty, MCD Attorney Mike McDougal previously told The Courier."
Would you trust the government to keep your kids safe?
Do you trust your county government enough to allow them to manage your kids safety? A fifty cent background check would have nipped the problem in the bud and found a pattern of child abuse is the past public records of Mr. Landeros.
I have done background checks on each and every one of my children's teachers, bus drivers and coaches. I feel as a good parent it is not only the right thing to do but also my duty. The background check service that i use only charges me a little under $30 every 3 years. This fee grants me the privledge of using any and all tools and resources available at the website. I even get to instantly check a person name, address, telephone number or license plate number from my cell phone browser.
If making sure your kid is safe isn't worth 1.2 cents a day.... Don't get more information.
